Meet Tim's team

An experienced lawyer with a varied and commercial skillset

Tim is a Partner in our Infrastructure & Energy Group, with over 25 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer. Describing his career path as non-linear, Tim has also held CEO, Chairman and NED positions (the former with an AIM plc), but he now focuses on corporate work within the Infrastructure & Energy sector.

He has experience of high-profile transactions in the public and private markets, which, alongside his time spent in industry, means Tim brings a particularly varied and commercial skillset to the work that he does.

“I always make sure I understand what’s driving a deal”

Tim says he doesn’t have a typical client – which is “the beauty of the job” – and he loves the wide variety of clients that he gets to act for. He still gets a buzz from winning a new client or getting a new instruction from existing clients and knowing that the work he does in the I&E sector is making a difference is the most rewarding part of his work.

Describing his approach to client work, Tim says, “I always make sure I understand what’s driving a deal, and I like to keep in mind that I’m there to facilitate getting a deal done, not score points against the other side”. It helps that Tim is very much of a “don’t sweat the small stuff” mentality, and his calm and measured approach is always appreciated by his clients.

Friendly and focused support

Tim admits that he “hates losing”, particularly when it comes to client pitches, but on the odd occasion that it does happen, he reminds himself that it’s M&A not A&E.

When asked how he would describe his working style, Tim says, “friendly and focused” which has helped him to quickly feel at home at Walker Morris where, he points out, “the great thing about everybody is their lack of ego – the client is firmly at the heart of what we do and we know our role is to make sure that deals get done”.
