The Walker Morris Sports Team has been instructed to advise Leicester City Football Club Limited on the acquisition of Leicester City Women Football Club Limited. Completion of the deal took place on Friday 21 August 2020, following receipt of the FA’s consent to a move that will see the women’s game in Leicester taken professional for the first time.
Christian Slinger, Senior Associate from Walker Morris said:
“We’re proud to have worked on this deal with Leicester City. The women’s team will now be run and financially backed in the same football operations structure as Leicester City’s senior men’s, development and youth teams, showing the commitment of the Club and King Power – its parent company – to women’s football. This is the first women’s football club acquisition we have been involved in. We hope this is the first of many and also the start of a successful relationship with Leicester City.”
Susan Whelan, Chief Executive for Leicester City Football Club, said:
“The introduction of a professional women’s team is a development the Club has been working towards for some time and is a central pillar in our commitment to the women’s game. LCFC Women will carry the standard as we work to establish ourselves in the FA Women’s leagues. Leicester City Football Club acquired LCFC Women in August 2020 and we are very appreciative of the diligence and support from Walker Morris on this successful transaction.”
