We are currently looking to recruit a Tax Lawyer to join our corporate team. The successful candidate need not only be bright and legally capable with a confident approach to giving advice but more importantly willing to push themselves and venture into unknown territory. The role will involve working hybrid from home and at our head office in Leeds.
Regular changes in the law and the commercial arena in which we operate give rise to new opportunities which mean that you will be developing new skills and new knowledge. If you have the kind of personality which finds this challenge exciting rather than daunting you will find that you will have the room to develop in ways that interest you whilst still having the support of a large law firm.
The team is small, personable and supportive, offering great opportunities for career development for the right candidate. We all cover a wide range of areas and work with each other to look for new ideas to develop and opportunities to take forward. The approach is collegiate rather than hierarchical.
We work across all the areas typical of a large successful law firm whether M&A, commercial property, public sector, employment or insolvency to deliver our clients’ objectives. Our workload is a mix of joint working with other departments in a support and/or advisory function, and standalone tax driven transactions.
As a team we also advise on the range of employee share incentives to clients of all sizes. You could be implementing an approved scheme for an owner-managed business or helping to design and deliver a bespoke scheme for a large listed corporate.
We get involved in many varied transactions which require a broad knowledge of the law and commercial arrangements. By way of example, over the last 12 months, we have been involved in: the design and implementation of remuneration packages and incentives for senior management, HMRC negotiations; national minimum wage enquiries; optimum structuring of investments and M&A transactions, restructures and demergers; providing advice on the residency issues and employee taxation; public sector projects; taxation of student housing; and detailed VAT advisory projects.
Whilst the majority of our work is UK orientated, we work with a number of overseas clients on a regular basis and are often required to co-ordinate overseas tax advice whether on cross border transactions or offshore tax planning.
On a more personal level, we can offer flexibility, agile working, dress for your day. We can also offer a great training and development programme, supportive working environment, and a genuine chance to develop as a commercial tax lawyer.
