Walker Morris boasts the largest Planning division in the North with unparalleled quality of work. Due to this we are currently looking to recruit a Solicitor to join our Planning team working hybrid from home and at our head office in Leeds.
Our Planning team specialises in planning and environmental work and acts for major developers and on infrastructure projects. We deal with all aspects of planning law including appeals for planning and associated consents, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, the drafting and negotiation of planning and related agreements and the environmental implications of development proposals.
Known for our excellent client service, superb technical ability and invaluable practical experience we are the largest planning team in the North and have a standalone planning department where the quality of work for solicitors is unparalleled. Our individual solicitors are highly ranked at a national level and we undertake work on projects throughout England and Wales.
The team has dealt with over 30 planning appeals in the last two years, dealing with varied sectors such as waste/renewables, motorway services, residential, and retail schemes. Working regularly at the coal face places us in a unique position to understand and address effectively the ever changing challenges of the planning system.
In both planning and environment law, we have the ability to manage cases from ‘cradle to grave’ providing an effective ‘one stop shop’ for strategic advice and advocacy services and we are recognised for our formidable advocacy skills. Undertaking our own advocacy at Public Inquiries and in the Higher Courts is a key skill which strengthens the depth of our expertise and sets us aside from other teams of planning lawyers.
The Team has real strength of numbers to support at the early stages of development proposals, including planning application and Environmental Statement audits, and deal with contentious matters at the Planning Appeal or High Court stage.
We are looking for a Bright and ambitious solicitor ideally to join our planning team in Leeds. The successful candidate will have good academics and be able to work as part of a busy department.
