Andrew is a Partner in our Employment Group. His practice covers all areas of employment law, with a particular focus on dealing with TUPE, collective consultation, insolvency scenarios and dispute resolution.
“What I enjoy about my job is what first attracted me to the profession from my studies in chemistry: solving problems”. Applying that to my practice area: that means ensuring that a business’ workforce is operating in a manner that is fit for purpose.
Describing his approach to client work as pragmatic and results orientated, Andrew endeavours to provide swift and achievable solutions in answer to his client’s problems.
When faced with a challenge, Andrew says, “you just have to plan and get stuck in” and he admits to being energised by this kind of work.
“I’ve always enjoyed seeking to find a creative solution for clients, whether that’s resolving litigation under the most favourable terms, or ensuring that legislation does not stop a commercial objective such as a purchase or sale of a business (especially in an insolvency scenario)”.
To find that solution, Andrew always starts by understanding and identifying the issues at hand. Then he can confidently propose and execute the solution, although Andrew notes that “given the nature of Employment Law, and employees as individuals, this often requires a fair degree of pragmatism”.
This is a way of working that fits well with the wider Walker Morris ethos, where he points out, the main aim is to help clients achieve their goals.
Andrew works regularly with colleagues from all of the firm’s practice areas, and he is a member of the Walker Morris Food & Drink Group.
